NPE Action Endorses Terry Michal for Birmingham School Board
The Network for Public Education Action is endorsing Terry Michal in the race for the Birmingham School Board District 2 race.
As Director of Support Our Students and a member of the National BATs leadership team, Terry is a fierce advocate for public schools. She was very involved in the campaign to keep charters out of Alabama. Even though the law was eventually passed, Terry is still continuing the fight and she has helped keep charter schools out of Birmingham.
Terry has been advocating for the children of Birmingham for five years. She told us the following:
I strongly believe that with my understanding of education policy and the privatization movement, and through my relationship with the employees of Birmingham, I can bring what is happening outside the classroom and inside the classroom together. This will allow me to take my advocacy for Public Education, its students, and its teachers, to a whole new level. I believe strongly that I have something unique, and something that is desperately needed, to offer as a BCS Board Member.
