NPE Action endorses Lisa Zargarpur for Coles District School Board
NPE Action gives another strong endorsement to Lisa Zargarpur for School Board, Prince William County, Coles District. NPE Action endorsed Lisa in her 2019 race and since then she has done an enormous amount for her community.
Lisa continues to teach in a neighboring school district. She currently works in an elementary school as a general music specialist (K-6th) in Fairfax County Public Schools. She is also the Equity Lead at her school where she collaborates with the building leadership on supporting student’s academic needs. She is a member of FEA, VEA, and NEA. All three of Lisa’s daughters are PWCS graduates.
In her four years as a school board member Lisa shared many of her accomplishments with NPE Action. Lisa and her fellow school board members worked hard to raise teacher pay. They added more teacher assistants (100 across the division) in our special education classrooms and gifted teachers at every elementary school. Lisa also supported the recruitment of more underserved students into the gifted, AP, IB, and Cambridge programs. She supported increased funding that follows at-risk students from elementary to middle to high school.
Lisa also supported adding more counselors, psychologists, and social workers for student mental health and a nurse in every school. She also supported providing vaccines to all staff during the height of the pandemic. Finally Lisa shared that her district now has a more diverse hiring practice and requires all new construction to be environmentally sustainable.
