NPE Action Endorses Deanna Chappell Belcher for School Board
NPE Action gives its strong endorsement to Deanna Chappell Belcher for Seat 7, of the Eugene School District 4j School Board.
Deanna is a member of the Community Alliance for Public Education, a grass roots education advocacy group that fights for social justice. Deanna has a long history of professional and volunteer service in K-12 public education and at the university level.
Deanna told us that her priorities are the following: to amplify the voices of the teachers, to make communication from the district more transparent and honest, and to make it easier for the public to participate in the governance of their schools.
Deanna supports reducing student testing and she opposes how charter schools have become corporatized. She is also opposed to vouchers and online schools and she has grave concerns regarding the lack of student data privacy.
She is for better funding for public schools, smaller class sizes and more joyful learning.
