NPE Action has endorsed Mandi Hunter for the Shawnee Mission at-large seat

NPE Action has endorsed Mandi Hunter in her race for the at-large seat on the Shawnee Mission School District Board of Education. Mandi’s priority as a candidate is to improve communication and transparency in the district.

She told us that, “If elected, my goal is to host town halls for constituents to discuss their questions and concerns. It’s imperative the members of the Board of Education have the pulse of the community.”

Mandi comes from a family that understands and supports public education. She is the parent of two students in the district, and was an active PTA Executive Committee member before running for school board. She and her husband are Shawnee Mission graduates, and both of their mothers were teachers with a combined 50+ years of experience in the classroom.

She noticed that due to state level funding issues, class sizes have been increasing across the district. She told us that she will “advocate for hiring additional teachers to bring down class sizes across the district” and that she would “ensure appropriate participation by the Board in the legislative process to promote adequate funding, sound education, and protect against privatization in Kansas.”

An attorney in private practice, Mandi has a uniquely relevant skill set to ensure Shawnee Mission remains a flagship school district for the county and the state.

Please join NPE Action in supporting Mandi in her November 7th race for the Shawnee Mission Board of Education.
