Mary McIntyre for Albemarle County School Board

The Network for Public Education Action is endorsing Mary McIntyre in the race for Rio District Representative, Albemarle County School Board, Albemarle County, Virginia.

Mary, the mother of two public school students, is “an experienced teacher, mother, and education activist, with a proven track record of fighting for high-quality education for all students.” Mary comes from a family of teachers – both of her parents are retired teachers and her sister teaches third grade. Mary has been teaching since 2003, and holds two Masters degrees – one in Music Education and another in Literacy. With a husband in the Air Force, she’s had the opportunity to teach in 5 different school systems, and she’s ready to put all of those years of experience to work as a board member.

Here’s Mary in her own words:

“In every school system where I taught, I noticed that many of the decisions coming from above were tone-deaf to the real needs and desires of those of us in the trenches doing the tough day-to-day work. I think that is what happens when our school boards are filled with lawyers, doctors, financiers, etc. I want to serve on the board to help them understand the impact every decision has on my classroom; we are not just numbers on a spreadsheet to be balanced.”

Mary’s years as a public school parent, in the classroom and serving in community organizations have given her the tools to represent the voters of the Rio District on the Albemarle County School Board with passion, and with purpose.

Please vote for Mary McIntyre for Rio District Representative on November 7th.
