This November 7th Denver voters have the opportunity to elect four new Denver Public School Board of Education members. For the at-large seat, NPE Action has endorsed Robert Speth. He is a Denver parent, not a politician.
Speth is a strong believer in public education, and he believes that Denver needs to stop closing schools and start helping them. That’s why he’s calling for a two-year moratorium on school closures.
Robert understands that “the pace of privatization of schools in Denver is unprecedented in the US and is not producing any measurable results.” He wants to focus on strengthening neighborhood schools because the district’s focus on privatization over the past 12 years is not working.
Robert told NPE Action that “with 60 out of 200 of our schools already privatized and another 14 approved this year alone, we clearly have plenty of privatized options in the city of Denver at this time.”
In 2015, despite being dramatically outspent by his opponent and an avalanche of dark money that flooded the race, Robert was able to secure 53,000 votes and was beaten by just 918 votes.
Please support Robert’s campaign between now and election day, and do whatever you can to get your friends and neighbors to the polls on November 7th to vote for Robert. It’s time for Denver to elect a true public education supporter to Denver’s Board of Education.
